The filter cartridge for the Truma gas filter of the old generation with silver-coloured housing absorbs oily particles that are carried as aerosols with the gas flow.
When the filter element is saturated (like a sponge that has soaked up liquid), it can no longer absorb any more oil particles. The oil then runs off the filter cartridge and drips into the lower part of the filter housing. As soon as you notice an oil film there, you must replace the filter cartridge.
